Electronic service repair, electronics and other electronic equipment are among the fastest-growing segments of the business sector in the U.S. and have grown steadily in recent years, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal.
The Journal examined the size of the companies in a sample of roughly 1,000 major companies in the electronic and computer services industry.
It found that, by 2019, the top three electronic service repair companies were in Silicon Valley, with $16.5 billion in revenues and more than 3,000 employees.
In contrast, the second-most valuable electronic service manufacturer was in Washington, D.C., with $3.5 trillion in revenues, while the third-most valued was in New York City with $1.6 trillion.
Overall, the largest businesses in the services sector had $5.3 trillion in annual revenue.
The largest companies in electronics had $2.4 trillion in revenue and the largest in consumer electronics had less than $200 million in annual revenues.
Electronic service companies in California and New York, which had more than 2.4 million workers, had a combined revenue of $6.3 billion in 2019, according the Journal report.
These are just the top ten service repair services companies, the Journal said.
Other notable companies that were in the top 10 include: Microsoft: $3,542 million Google: $1,931 million Amazon: $637 million Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Amazon Web Services had revenues of $3 billion each, the report said.
The top three service repair firms in 2019 were in California with Microsoft at $636 million, Microsoft, Google and Amazon at $1 billion each and Amazon with $620 million.
