How to use your phone to stream audio sources to your TV, PC, or tablet.
With the advent of smart speakers, it’s become harder and harder to stream a TV program from your phone, laptop, or desktop.
It’s no secret that Apple’s AirPlay tech lets you stream media from your computer or iOS device, but many of us aren’t used to the ease of using AirPlay on a smartphone.
Apple’s Air Play tech lets your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch stream music, videos, and photos from a connected source to your Apple TV, Apple TV Pro, or Apple TV via the AirPlay protocol.
This feature lets you send and receive media from a number of sources using a single, central AirPlay device.
When you set up an AirPlay service, Apple offers you an app that lets you control which source your AirPlay is sending the media to.
You can choose between multiple sources to stream music and videos to the device, and you can also set up a number to mute audio in your AirView, which can be used to mute the sound from the source when you’re not looking at it.
For your TV set-top box, AirPlay allows you to send media from an AirPort Extreme or Apple AirPort Express to your computer through the AirPort Utility.
If you want to stream movies and TV shows directly from your iOS device or Mac, you’ll need to configure your iOS or Mac’s Media Streamer to work with AirPlay.
Here’s how to use AirPlay to stream media to your mobile device: 1.
Install and launch iTunes.
Select the Apple TV or AppleTV app on your iOS/Mac device or the AppleTV or AppleHomePod app on the Mac.
On the Apple device, tap on the Home button.
From the Home screen, tap Media Center.
From Media Center, tap the TV app you want.
At the top of the screen, click Media Source.
From there, tap your device.
If you don’t see the Apple Television or Apple HomePod app, select another source.
From your device, click on the Apple AirPlay icon.
You’ll see your Airplay connection details in the top right corner of the Apple Home screen.
When you’re done with that, your device will automatically start AirPlay and start streaming the media.
